#UKGovNews : ” Be Careful When `Applying and Paying’ for your Driving Licence On-line”

#AceConsumerNews says changes to paying for your UK Licence together with Road Fund Tax Changes in April 2014, means vigilance is required as more `Motorists are warned that when applying online for your driving licence to always make sure you use the official GOV.UK site’

Laptop screen

DVLA warns that when applying online for your driving licence, you should always make sure you use the official GOV.UK site.

DVLA has been made aware of several websites offering a check and send service for driving licence applications. These services are in no way affiliated with DVLA. You may come across these websites in the sponsored links or paid-for results section when using online search engines. The Office of Fair Trading has ruled that websites which charge additional fees and services are not acting illegally.

These websites will claim to offer value-added services to ensure your application is correct before you send it to DVLA. However, using this service will mean you can end up paying as much as 3 times the normal price for your driving licence, and all you will receive is a paper application form that has been completed for you.

The government, led by Cabinet Office’s Government Digital Service (GDS), will continue to investigate reports of organisations which may be actively misleading users about their services or acting illegally, taking swift action when necessary. By using the online driving licence transactions on GOV.UK you can be sure that you are dealing directly with DVLA and will not be charged any additional fees for your driving licence. Your application will be completed online without the need for a paper application in most cases. By using the online driving licence transactions on GOV.UK you can be sure that you are dealing directly with DVLA and you will not be charged any additional fees for your driving licence. Your application will be completed online without the need for a paper application in the majority of cases.

You can find the online driving licence services in the driving licence section of GOV.UK.

“God Provides the Answer and We Listen to Ourselves”

#AceNewsServices says l have just heard on the local news about how the UK economy has improved and is growing faster than any other country. Well we should all be so grateful and be patting this government on the back for a good job, of course let us look deeper and we see that this transparency, is a dark glass hiding the real truth.

The reason is, oh yes we have growth of 0.8% and a rise in-house prices of 24% in certain areas of the country, mainly in the South of England of course. So far so good …………………………………………….

So why am l such an pessimist? Well everything that has been achieved in this country for the last 30 years, has had a price and the price in this case is borrowing, lending and debt.

GovUk Borrowing £2 Billion Per WeekGeorge Osborne says we need austerity, and cuts of £25 billion are required, but the real cost is the#UK Debt stands as at today’s date, at over £900 billion and counting. According to “UK National Debt’s” latest figures and as l write, this is  £1.254.936.279 and some change. Check it out yourself when you read this post, and see how much it has grown, just click #UKDebt

  • So how is this government funding our lifestyles as citizens? Well according to the ONS ………………..

UK Borrowing in UK in December 2013The UK national debt is the total amount of money the British government owes to the private sector and other purchasers of UK gilts.

  • Public sector net debt was £1,211.8 billion at the end of September 2013, equivalent to 75.9% of GDP
  • Source: ONS [1. ONS public sector finances ] [This figure excludes temporary effects of financial interventions (PSND ex) (page updated October 23rd 2013)

UK national debt

So as you can see the rise is dramatic in 2012-13 to say the least, but in 2008-2009 it was nearly half. Now you would think people would have learned that aFinancial Crisisin 2008, and how much everyone lost. This should teach us that borrowing too much does not work, but we are so easily tempted into buying what the devil wants, not what we need.

Car Purchase 2008 - Debt 2009Now the BBC reports today that  figure from the SMMT that New Car Sales were up in 2013 in the UK car sales in 2013 recorded their best year since 2007, industry figures have shown, helped by cheap credit deals and stronger consumer confidence.

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said that 2.26 million vehicles were registered in 2013.

That was a 10.8% rise on 2012, although the figure is 6% lower than 2007’s 2.4 million figure.

The 2013 total was boosted by a 23.76% rise in sales in December, marking the 22nd successive month of increases.

Industry analysts say that attractive financing deals have tempted buyers, with three-quarters of sales to private buyers now involving a financing package.

So once again we are back into that borrowing circle, as this government literally con’s us into believing what they tells us, and  just like sheep, we follow them into the darkness to be shorn.

Finally as l said earlier and it may stagger some, due to the staggering amount ofPayment Protection Insurance and the Compensation” people are using their money as either deposits or part-payments to purchase new cars. Thus putting the monies stolen from them, back into the same pockets {or similar} that has just paid out the compensation!

Does this not sound ludicrous, to anyone or is it just me?

I rest my case but mark my words, mark them well 2008 crisis was a walk in the park compared to what will happen in the future, no government, country or nation can borrow money on debts, and then charge interest just to keep “British Banks” in business.

You have been warned – more updates soon ……………………………………………………………………………………………….

Osborne Changes Rules From Vehicle Excise Licence to Road Fund Taxation to Benefit Them not Us – All With a Swipe of His Pen”

#AceNewsServices says the government is changing the law in 2014 to reduce tax administration costs and burdens associated with vehicle tax sounds good does it not, but of course that was the whole idea. But shall we take a look deeper at the history of the ” Road Fund Licence” because as the words reflect it, as it was and still is until today, a “Road Fund Licence”  meaning the right to travel on the UK roads and licensed to do so ,providing you pay for a Tax Disc. Well there is the change from licence to tax and this has been so for many a year. But of course it was really called a “Vehicle Excise Licence” not as so many people believe “Road Tax” as extract below confirms.

Vehicle Excise Licence or Road Tax:

The term “road tax“, which appears in the Oxford English Dictionary, is commonly used when referring to “Vehicle Excise Duty“. This use is controversial though as technically there is no such thing as road tax, despite its common usage. Peter Walker, a journalist at The Guardian gives this opinion of it “I’ve always felt the road tax argument supports a more general feeling of entitlement among too many drivers. Those who trot it out often seem to genuinely treat cyclists like we’re interlopers who should be pushed aside”. The BBC echoed this argument in 2013, reporting how the term “road tax” is used by some drivers as a badge of entitlement to hog the road and drive badly, even intentionally hitting cyclists to argue their point. The Cyclists’ Touring Club argue ‘most adult cyclists do pay for the roads, even though they impose minimal wear and tear on them’.The Cambridge Cycle Campaign suggested that “Arguing that cyclists therefore have less right to use the roads is like arguing that smokers should take precedence for medical treatment, because non-smokers don’t buy cigarettes and therefore ‘don’t pay hospital tax.

Osborne’s Autumn Statement:

Today (Thursday 5 December 2013), the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced that the government will change the law in 2014 to reduce tax administration costs and burdens associated with vehicle tax.

The Department for Transport (DfT) made clear in its recent Motoring Services Strategy consultation that the government is committed to offering high quality and cost-effective services to the public and businessesDfT and DVLA have listened to the views of both businesses and the public to remove unnecessary burden and provide modern and efficient services to meet their needs. This includes getting rid of unnecessary paper where possible and making it easier for people and businesses to use government services.

DVLA will offer motorists the ability to spread their vehicle tax payments should they wish to do so. From 1 October 2014 motorists will be able to pay vehicle tax by direct debit annually, biannual or monthly. There will be no additional handling fees for annual payments but to limit the impact on the public finances there will be a small surcharge of 5% of vehicle tax for biannual and monthly payments. This is half of the 10% surcharge that is currently applied to 6 monthly tax discs and which has been in existence for a number of decades.

Also from 1 October 2014, the paper tax disc, first issued on 1 January 1921, will no longer be issued and required to be displayed on a vehicle windscreen. Vehicle tax will still need to be paid but with DVLA having a digital record of who has and has not paid, a paper tax disc is no longer necessary as proof that vehicle tax is paid. The majority of motorists pay their vehicle tax with latest figures confirming that over 99% of motorists’ tax their vehicles on time… Most on-road enforcement action is now based on using Automatic Number Plate Readers. These cameras use the number plate rather than a visual inspection of the tax disc. The police also have access to DVLA records via the police national computer. There are significant savings for fleet operators and other businesses from not having to handle the administration of tax discs.

Editor’s Conclusion:

Well a simple way to raise extra money for the UK Treasury and at the same time get everyone paying monthly, with the added bonus of “Police Enforcement Measures” all under the auspices of ” Saving Money and Austerity Measures” and many people will look and think he is doing us a favour. The Tories never did anyone any favours, unless it provided a benefit to their coffer’s.

So readers what is your opinion leave a comment and add #AceConsumerViews and l will publish all of them that are related to the article.

Thank you Editor

“Eat or Heat as Keeping UK Homes Warm is Becoming a Bigger Problem”

UK energy-related grapic

UK energy-related grapic (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

#AceNewsServices says the recent planned rise in the energy bills by the big six energy companies is becoming a bigger and more difficult problem, as the cold snaps of the last few days start to bite.

Then add in the fact as this video shows that “Energy Costs” have risen by just 1.7% whilst the costs of consumers bills have risen by 75% over the past two years.

Our UK Prime Minster and his Chancellor tells us they can do nothing other than to make bills even clearer and offer great choice to the consumer, with the added bonus of them taking away their “Green Levy” with of course replacing it with added back tax to people receiving the “Warm Front Incentive” of just £135.00 per annum.

The fact that the average “UK Energy Bill ” is over a £1,000 and some even more in some cases, with a planned 6% rise in the offing, it would mean families being worst off to the tune of another £60.00 per year.

Of course our illustrious Prime Minister has all the answers he says ” Just Put on Another Jumper ” but as one “Elderly Pensioner” retorted on the video – ” You Can only Wear So Many Jumpers” – she is quite right.

Maybe he could dip into his “Private Trust Fund ” and give all those that need it a helping hand, at least his hands will be warm not like so many more!
