West Midlands Police will maintain the current policing levels over the coming days before a planned scale back of extra resources from Tuesday.
There will remain a highly visible police presence across the region, including at events and key sites, such as transport and other crowded places, to offer greater reassurance to the public.
Assistant Chief Constable Michele Larmour, of West Midlands Police, said: “We are consistently reviewing our policing deployment, reflective of the change in threat level and the operational demands occurring across West Midlands this Bank Holiday weekend. The resources we planned for this weekend will continue, so the public will still see that high level of policing presence; some armed, some unarmed. “We will continue to reassess over the Bank Holiday weekend seeking to step down the extra resources we have had in place over the last week. “We would ask members of the public to remain vigilant as there is still a severe threat level.
