#AceNewsReport – Jan.05: Top Islamabad officials have warned President Donald Trump against endangering US-Pakistan cooperation in Afghanistan, promising a “cold-blooded” response to Washington’s proposed aid cut to the South Asian nation #AceNewsDesk reports

http://ift.tt/2CIz3wX A senior Pakistani senator expressed disappointment Friday at the U.S. decision to suspend military aid, saying it will be detrimental to bilateral relations, while the government itself said it was too early to gauge the effects of the decision………..Nuzhat Sadiq, the chairwoman of the foreign affairs committee in the upper house of parliament, said Islamabad can manage without the United States as it did in the 1990s, but would prefer to move the troubled relationship forward.“What the U.S. is doing now is not good for its policy against terrorism and for a lasting peace in this region,” she said, adding that Pakistan has always “played a vital role in the war on terror.”……….The State Department’s declaration on Thursday lambasted Pakistan for failing to take “decisive action” against Taliban militants targeting U.S. personnel in neighbouring Afghanistan. U.S. officials have long complained that Pakistan tolerates or even encourages extremists, charges denied by Islamabad.A statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry nearly 24 hours after the announced suspension of military aid said it’s too early to tell what impact the U.S. decision will have on counter-terrorism initiatives in the region. But it said the war on terror, which is entering its 17th year, has cost Pakistan over $120 billion……….The statement said Pakistan’s cooperation had helped “decimate” al-Qaida and drive other militant groups out of the lawless regions along the border…………Another statement on Friday rejected the U.S. decision to add Pakistan to a special watch list for violations of religious freedom, pursuant to 2016 legislation. That step does not carry any serious consequences………The Foreign Ministry said the designation is not based on “objective criteria.”Pakistan has recently begun constructing dozens of security posts along the border with Afghanistan as well as a fence to curtail cross-border movement. Afghanistan, which does not recognise the international border between the two countries, has objected to those moves……..The Foreign Ministry statement blamed Afghanistan for much of the unrest, saying it should accelerate efforts to repatriate the more than 1 million Afghan refugees in Pakistan and curb the runaway opium production that finances the Taliban and other armed groups……….Mohammed Amir Rana, director of the independent Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies, said that both Pakistan and the United States “need to realistically review their relationship and scale down expectation of each other.”“Pakistan cannot put all its eggs in the China basket,” he added, referring to the billions of dollars China is investing in Pakistan on a major transportation and power grid.Rana said the U.S. needs Pakistan if it wants to find a peaceful end to decades of turmoil, and if it wants to navigate the changing circumstances in neighbouring Iran, which has seen anti-government protests in recent days. The U.S. mission in Afghanistan is heavily reliant on supply corridors that run through Pakistan……….Dozens of Pakistanis meanwhile took part in protests against the United States in a number of cities……..In some places, the protesters set fire to portraits of President Donald Trump, but there were no reports of violence ………..Pakistan holds emergency National Security Council meeting after Trump tweets that the country gives the US “nothing but lies & deceithttp://bitly.com/2CtCSVN http://pic.twitter.com/CPxfMEqOSECNN News January 2, 2018 …..The US is suspending security assistance to Pakistan over what it says is a failure by the country to adequately crack down on terror groups http://cnn.it/2EZ529Q pic.twitter.com/yhgfnSnFt0 but real reason is here: First trilateral talks of FMs of China, Afghanistan and Pakistan being held in Beijing to discuss development, connectivity, security and counter-terrorism.— All India Radio News December 26, 2017 ……..Wang: China and Pakistan want to cooperate over Afghanistan and in the future, we want to link #Afghanistan to China – through the #Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).— TOLOnews reports …..China and Pakistan are looking to include Afghanistan in their $57-billion economic corridor https://t.co/1szqhQ8yXV RT December 26, 2017

PAKISTAN: ‘ US Embassy employee shot Dead in Islamabad ‘

#AceWorldNews – PAKISTAN:July.26: Police in Islamabad have identified a man who died of gunshot wounds as Pakistani citizen Iqbal Baig, who they say worked for the US Drug Enforcement Agency, reports AP.

The motive for the attack remains unclear. The US contractor’s body was found at his home, where he is believed to have been killed early on Sunday morning. US Embassy security officials have already visited the crime scene.

Baig belonged to a Shiite minority sect known as the Ismaili. In Sunni-dominated Pakistan, the Shia often become victims of Islamic extremists, who regard them as heretics.

In May, some 50 Ismaili were shot dead by gunmen in the country’s southern port city of Karachi.

DERA KHAN: ‘ At least 12-Suspected Militants & 4-Security Personnel Killed – Reports ‘

#AceNewsReport – DERA KHAN:July.05: At least 12 suspected militants and four security personnel were killed in an exchange of fire in Data Khel area of North Waziristan tribal region, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement.

The statement added that the militants fled from the scene leaving behind the bodies of three of their colleagues.

The details could not be independently verified.

North Waziristan is one of the seven regions in Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) governed by tribal laws which is situated along the Pak-Afghan border and is rife with Taliban militant activity.

The Pakistan Army launched Zarb-i-Azb, a comprehensive operation in North Waziristan tribal region last summer to drive out Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other extremist militants who launch attacks on government and civilian targets, a week after the brazen insurgent attack on the country’s busiest airport in Karachi.

@AceNewsServices Indian Fishermen released from Karachi Jail

#AceNewsReport – PAKISTAN:June.18: Pakistan on Thursday released 113 Indian fishermen, AFP reported. The fishermen, who had been kept in a Karachi jail for nine months to a year, were put on a train bound for the eastern border city of Lahore.

The release of the Indian fishermen followed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s phone call to his Pakistani counterpart, Nawaz Sharif, on Tuesday.

India’s leader offered best wishes to his counterpart on the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, and announced the release of the detained fishermen in an apparent move to ease bilateral tensions.

Fishermen are frequently arrested by both India and Pakistan because the maritime border between the two countries in the Arabian Sea is poorly defined.
